Digital artist and creative technologist Maf’j Alvarez will introduce you to her work and practice of developing virtual reality experiences for the cultural sector. You will see some of her work including the latest project Eva Quantica and find out what drives her to engage with new technologies and the kind of artistic exploration that suits the medium of virtual reality.
Maf’j will demonstrate Holonspace, a simple prototyping workflow in Unity3d and Probuilder, which aims to give newcomers to the medium a quick way to put meaningful content into VR. Facilitator BioMaf’j Alvarez is a digital media artist and creative technologist living in Brighton, UK, exploring how ecology, the mind and cultural and gender diversity intersect with open access to technology. She also works as a user experience (UX) designer, leading on complex, large-scale, digital transformation projects for government services. Maf’j has a BA in Interactive Arts from Manchester Metropolitan University (1998) and an MA in Digital Media Arts from Brighton University and Lighthouse (2015). She has been a resident artist at Fusebox Brighton since 2017.
