What is the status of plant life, flowers in particular, not only in the history of philosophy but also in the history film? In this taster session, Professor Sarah Cooper addresses this question that relates to the conjunction of ecophilosophy and film in the module ‘Ecology and the Moving Image.’ She gives examples of how flowers have occupied both the margins and the centre of film, before focusing on an ecocinematic example from the work of experimental filmmaker Rose Lowder.
